UK Anarchy...Protesting ? ..

Just an excuse for lawlessness

Why now?

What is going to happen, when our economy has to be seriously addressed?

Now that scares me

  1. I recommend that you read the following before making hasty remarks.

  2. I actually do not understand the point you are trying to make.. what is happening is looting and attacks on innocent people.. I call that anarchy and lawless behaviour.. I personally do not think it is the correct way to make a point ..thanks for your comment and link although I had read most of the articles xx

  4. I'm not sure it's anything to do with drinking, apparently one of the crowds was throwing bottles of champagne from Tesco at a bus in order to make it stop! I hate to think this is happening in our country, I was in London at the weekend and thinking that it was a really great capital city - you know the Boris's bike initiative, less rubbish and graffiti, but there is clearly an undercurrent of malaise - well done for writing about it

  6. Mermaid Gallery.. Unfortunately we do have a binge drinking culture here, which I for one am trying to address in my own house hold I wish we could be more European in our attitude to alcohol.. but that has nothing to do with what is happening now with the riots..What started as a peaceful protest was used as an excuse for people to run riot.. the economy is in dire straights we are in worse debt than Greece and I fear that this will not be the last of it .. xx

  7. Ruth, we know that this is not about protesting. It is about getting away with taking trainers and televisions for free.

What is the UK going to do, give away more money in welfare to the young and unemployed? Will welfare and council housing bribe them to good?

I hope that the UK economy can grow strong so that unemployment will decrease and more importantly so that the people living at the bottom level of the economic ladder can have a chance to better their lives.

But what's going on right now isn't protest, it's just looting and arson for fun.
    It is so very sad.

  9. I'm with you, Ruth, this is not just "protesting" it IS lawless, reckless behavior without thought or regard for anyone but themselves. It's scary.

And Susan - I don't know where you are - but I have read loads of comments on news articles here in the States that are echoing your sentiment. And it does make you think - it could easily happen here.

  10. It seems the young of the world have taken to the streets to protest. In the case in London it was just hideousness on the part of everyone involved.
I am so sorry. Everyone believes London always behaves beautifully and all are safe. I don't know about the shooting the rioters were protesting, but I certainly know their actions were awful. All of you need to be very careful where you go with the kids. Sending love, R.....
